Safe Places – Creating a Child Safe Church
Toowoomba Community Baptist Church recognises the vulnerability of those 0 to 18 years old and is committed to the safety and well being of all children and / or youth accessing our service. We support the rights of the child and will act without hesitation to ensure a child safe environment is maintained at all times. We also support the rights and well being of our staff and volunteers and encourage their active participation in building and maintaining a secure environment for all participants.
The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires regulated businesses and employers to protect children and young people in their care by implementing an annual written risk management strategy. The purpose of these Safe Places documents is to formulate a policy that will meet our legal requirements and to assist our church in providing a safe environment in which children can grow and develop and to ensure that if harm occurs it is dealt with appropriately.
Current legislation requires all people working with children / youth to have a blue card however this alone is not sufficient to meet the new requirements for a Risk Management Policy relating to youth and children. The Safe Places Policy has been adopted by TCBC to address this requirement and to ensure to the best of our ability that our church is a safe place for children to live and grow in the knowledge of Christ.
